The Cold Email Template That Gets Replies From Radio DJs

You do not need to be clever. You need to be clear. Here is a battle-tested template that respects the DJ's time and gets straight to the point.
The template

Why it works
It names the show (proving you actually listen), gives the DJ everything they need in three links, and gets out of the way. No emojis, no marketing speak, no attached PDFs over 5MB.
The 20-minute personalization workflow
Personalization does not mean writing a brand-new essay for every DJ. Spend five minutes finding one recent show, five minutes identifying the best segment for your song, five minutes checking spelling and contact details, and five minutes adapting the first sentence. That is enough to prove you are not blasting a list. The strongest opening line is specific but short: 'I heard your recent shoegaze block after Slowdive and think this new single fits that mood.' One line like that beats three paragraphs about your journey.
Follow-up email
Subject: Re: NEW SUBMISSION — [Artist] — [Genre] — [Track Title] Hi [Name], Just wanted to gently bump this in case it got buried. The clean edit, WAV and one-sheet are still here: [link]. No pressure either way — thank you for listening and for supporting independent music. — [Artist] Send this once, 10 to 14 days later. If there is still no reply, move on and keep the relationship clean for the next release.
